Why Should I Enter

Saddle up your imagination and get ready to ride – the Hobby Horse Riding Competition at the Sunshine Coast Show is back and more fun than ever! Open to kids and kids-at-heart, this playful event blends creativity, costume, and a good dash of silliness as riders trot, jump, and canter their way through the course on their trusty hobby horses.

Entries open April 1st, 2026 and close June 11th, 2026, so now’s the time to start crafting your noble steed and perfecting your prance. Whether you’re in it for the laughs, the ribbons, or the glory, this light-hearted competition is sure to be a show highlight.

This competition is only open to members of the Hobby Horse Riders Association.

The Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show prides itself on the quality and experience of our Judges & Stewards invited to attend the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show's Hobby Horse Riding Competition.

Societies and industry representatives are invited to submit nominations for consideration by the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show before March 2, 2026.

The Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show also encourages nominations for associate judges and stewards to foster development and education for the next generation.

PLEASE READ THE COMPETITION CONDITIONS CAREFULLY:

The Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show Society (SCASS) is conducted under the Rules and Regulations of the Sunshine Coast Show Society and the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies.

This event is only open to current financial members of the Hobby Horse Riders Association and runs in conjunction with the Hobby Horse Riders Association.

There is limited parking available on the Showgrounds. Paid parking is available at Crusher Park. Drivers need to cooperate with Parking Stewards for the best parking arrangements and maximum safety for horses, riders and public. All vehicles coming onto the grounds agree to abide by the SCASS traffic management plan.
All entries to be entered online. There will be NO REFUNDS after nominations have closed - except via email request to show manager for an injured rider. Must be accompanied with a Doctor’s Certificate. If a refund has been approved by the committee, payment will be paid within four (4) weeks after the Show. Refunds will not be available if you choose to change classes after nominations have closed.
Entrants are welcome to attend the Grade Parade on June 14, 2025 from 1:30pm.
Hobby Horses may be ridden by persons of any age or at the discretion of the exhibitors. Parents are solely responsible.
Competitors and their supporters are reminded that any person or persons who harass a Judge or Steward may be disqualified for the remainder of the day, or the duration of the Show, with all awards and entry fees forfeited, and potentially asked to leave the grounds. A Competitor may converse with the Judge only with the permission of the Steward in attendance.
Any protests must be lodged at the Ring Secretary’s Office within 15 minutes of the conclusion of the event with a fee of $50 cash which MAY be refunded if the protest is upheld. The only protests which will be considered are those made by Competitors in the relevant event.
All entrants are at theory own risk. The Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show takes all care but no responsibility.
Stewards reserve the right to alter or cancel any event during the Show.
To comply with insurance all entrants must complete a Waiver.
DO NOT bring dogs onto the Showgrounds as they are NOT permitted.
If there are any outstanding fees (including stabling), competitors will be unable to compete or collect ribbons and may be ineligible for prizes.

PRIZE MONEY and PRIZE CERTIFICATES: No prize money will be paid out if there are any outstanding fees. All prize money will be available for collection from the Cashier at the Treasury, located beside the Main Office as soon as possible after 2:00pm on the Friday of the Show. All prize money is GST-inclusive. Prizes not collected by June 30th, 2025 will be forfeited. Prize cards will not be held after June 30th.

DISCLAIMER: SCASS shall not be responsible for any accident that may be caused to or by an exhibitor, members of the general public or competitor and will not, under any circumstances, be responsible for any losses or non-delivery of livestock or entries of any kind, or any injury or damage done thereby. Persons contravening any of SCASS’s rules/regulations shall forfeit any prize awarded. SCASS reserves the right to refuse, cancel, or require any entry to be removed at any time. Exhibitors shall accept the decision of the Stewards/Judges appointed by SCASS as final. The decisions of the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show Society Committee are final.
